The melancholic pop anthems of The National are obsessive and their songs with the warm voice of Matt Berninger inevitably become addictive. After 5 years the band finally returns and plays an exclusive Swiss show at Samsung Hall in December.
The music of The National is elegant, characterized by melancholy and outburst and sounds absolutely wonderful at any time. The strength of the Brooklyn Band, consisting of the guitar twins Aaron and Bryce Dessner and the rhythm brothers Bryan and Scott Devendorf, lies in taking the listener into the wonderful depths of melancholy. Gentle piano swabs and slightly springy drums wrap you up while a perfect piece of music is always conjured up with a grandiosely drawn arc of tension and dense sounds.
