Damon Fowler grew up in Brandon, Florida, just outside of Tampa. He played his first guitar at the age of 12. He discovered the blues at a young age and performed in clubs in the Tampa Bay Area.
Damon is a tasteful guitarist, composer, singer and band leader. His music is based on the tradition of the blues. Organic music with a lot of soul. His role models on the guitar include legends like Johnny Winter and Ry Cooder, but when it comes to singing, Willie Nelson is one of his role models.
In his music we hear - besides the blues - a lot of R&B, southern rock, soul and country. In addition to acoustic and electric guitar, Damon Fowler also plays Lap Steel and Dobro. Today, at the age of 36, he is also known for his refined slide guitar playing and is a popular sideman for names like the former Allman Brothers' member Dickey Betts, whom he recently accompanied on his tour.
For many years, he has been publishing great records that stand out from the crowd. As a member of Southern Hospitality, alongside Victor Wainwright and J.P. Soars, he enjoyed years of attention and also played at Groove Now in 2015. Their Easy Livin CD made it into the top 10 of the US Billboard Top Blues albums.
Over the years, Damon has played with greats like Delbert McClinton, Buddy Guy, Johnny Winter, Jeff Beck, Robin Trower, Gregg Allman, Rick Derringer, Little Feat as well as Jimmie Vaughan, Butch Trucks and Dickey Betts.
His first recording under his own name, Sugar Shack, was released in 2009, which was followed two years later by Devil Got His Way. Sounds Of Home was released in 2014. In 2016, he played for the first time at Groove Now. His last CD - Whiskey Bayou - was released in 2019.
In September 2015 he was a member of Butch Trucks' band, and in 2018, he played slide guitar on Dickey Betts tour both former members of the Allman Brothers.
Damon usually plays in a trio. Under the aegis of Groove Now, he will bring a Florida All Star band to Basel that has never before been seen in Europe.
