Sue Foley Band featuring Laura Chavez & The Texas Horns
The two finest blues guitar women & The Texas Horns - a better Texas Blues Show is not possible anymore Canadian Sue Foley has not only received awards in her home country, including numerous Juno and Maple Blues Awards as one of the most remarkable Canadian blues musicians, but also several prestigious international blues awards. But ever since this first-class guitarist and singer successfully immigrated into the legendary music scene of Austin (Texas) almost 30 years ago, she counts as one of the select circle of great Texas blues women, along with famous friends such as Lou Ann Barton, Marcia Ball, Angela Strehli and the late lamented Candye Kane. And on the electric guitar, she may hardly have a serious female rival apart from Californian Laura Chavez ? Sue Foley has every right to be called ?The Finest Blues Guitar Woman?. As a very special guest, Sue will be bringing the other great guitar woman to Basel: Laura Chavez. Laura ist a special friend of Groove Now?s president and musical director. Plus the incredible horns of the Texas Horns.
So the two best blues guitar women will be taking the stage together at Groove Now to celebrate the 10th anniversary of this exquisite blues and soul series. The addition of the Texas Horns makes these two shows as absolutely outstanding. Maybe the best possible Texas Blues show possible.
With her last album the fabulous "The Ice Queen", Sue is playing with local heroes such as Jimmie Vaughan and Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top fame. And she remains very conscious of the great Texas blues tradition, just like Sue Foley once so memorably remarked to the Los Angeles Times, "I wanna be the female Clarence Gatemouth Brown. I wanna be seventy-five, a wicked guitar player, and ornery as hell!" Sue Foley may just have turned fifty, but she is definitely on her way to reaching these lofty goals.
